The unveiling of historic firsts of DevGAMM in the western region of Europe, ranging from VIP experiences to fifteen years of celebrating gaming excellence.
The closing ceremonies of DevGAMM Lisbon 2023 closed an unprecedented chapter in the gaming industry’s history. A real melting pot of creativity and companionship, DevGAMM Lisbon brought together more than 620 game industry experts from 341 firms across 44 nations.
Three hundred and twenty-six decision-makers, including chief executive officers, founders, lead managers, and senior participants, were captivated by the sixty-plus games displayed throughout the two days of the conference. An impressive 880 meetings were held on the PINE platform, leading to valuable partnerships and contacts that will surely influence the gaming industry’s trajectory.
The first-ever VIP activities at DevGAMM Lisbon were a huge success. Scorewarrior’s VIP & Speakers Reception established the tone, and then Epic Games hosted a spectacular VIP Dinner at a historic hotel in a breathtaking setting. Incorporating a Golf Masterclass that accommodated players of varying abilities added a new dimension, making the event more interesting and enjoyable for everyone.
Beyond the statistics, DevGAMM Lisbon 2023 was an exciting event with fifty thought-provoking presentations. Warren Spector of OtherSide Entertainment, Jonathan Blow of Thekla, Inc., Gabby Llanillo of Riot Games, Ilari Kuittinen of Housemarque, Dennis Micka of Guerrilla Games, Moritz Lehr of CD Projekt RED, and Sarah Beaulieu of Ubisoft were among the esteemed speakers who covered a wide array of subjects. A vast range of topics were covered in these seminars, including game design and narrative, business, technology and development, marketing, production, community, art and visual, user experience and interface, audio and sound, and more.
As the conference ended, the Main Party occurred at a picturesque harbor beneath the lighthouse close to the old town. Guests toasted the Portuguese contribution to video game production by donning blue and white attire and enjoying a convivial evening of cocktails and small talk.
At the closing ceremony, a massive cake was cut to celebrate DevGAMM’s fifteenth birthday. At the end of the celebration, everyone toasted with champagne, hugged each other goodbye, and expressed their thanks.
As we say goodbye to DevGAMM Lisbon, anticipation is growing for the next installment, DevGAMM Gdansk 2024, which will take place on February 28 – 29. Game submissions are now available for developers to challenge the limits of imagination and teamwork in video games and participate in the thrill.
