You’ll come across one of the toughest decisions in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Which Oath should you choose?
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden has just been released, and as anticipated, everyone is loving it. We also do, as we’ve reviewed the game, given it high praises with an almost perfect 4.7/5 score quoting it as a Masterpiece, and strongly recommended that you get the game if you’re a fan of this genre. Trust us, you’ll love it. You get nothing short of brilliance with a touching and well-written story and enjoyable battles against specters and ghosts, which feature weapons, magic, and spiritual powers. More importantly, solving many haunting cases.
However, with all of these comes very difficult choices that you must make. These decisions greatly impact the story’s outcomes. One of them is the Oath that you plan on taking throughout your experience with Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. But what’s the best path to take?
Before you make this incredibly difficult decision, you’re faced with another one beforehand. As you’re coming to a close on the ‘The Flesh is Weak’ haunting case, you must decide whether to ‘blame’ Jacob Lynde, ‘ascend’ or ‘banish’ the spirit of Benedict Stoughton.
Because this just the beginning of the game, the impact of this decision isn’t as great as the topic at hand, but morally speaking, you’re better off selecting ‘ascend’ as it gently sent Benedict out of the world with a release ritual, bringing proper closure to both the case and Jacob and Benedict’s friendship. Plus, this decision will contribute to Antea’s ascension.
The same goes for if you were to select ‘banish’ on Jacob. The difference is that if you forcedly banish the ghost and send him to oblivion by performing a banishment ritual. Now, if you had selected ‘blame’ on Jacob, you’d sacrifice the living settler with a blame ritual. You’ll get many of these choices as you progress the game. So, make sure to keep this in mind at all times for your Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden experience.
Once you’ve taken an oath, that’s it. There’s no going back, no do-overs, nothing. Once you’ve sworn an oath in Banisher: Ghosts of New Eden, it’s in your best interest to keep your promise in your quest to ascend or resurrect Antea. Let’s have a look at both oaths to see which is best for you.
Ascend Oath
By selecting this Oath, you make a vow to help Antea’s spirit leave the world peacefully the moment you both retrieve her body from New Eden’s meetinghouse. You must ascend or banish a sufficient number of ghosts to be able to do this.
Resurrection oath
If you select this Oath, you pledge to sacrifice the living to bring Antea back from the dead again once you retrieve her body from New Eden’s meetinghouse. In order to resurrect Antea, you must blame as many living settlers as possible.
Which Oath is best?
Here’s the thing: the decision is entirely up to you. It all really depends on your moral compass. If you think she should be at peace, then ascend is the one for you. If you badly want Antea back, then go for the Resurrection Oath. But will you want to sacrifice the living to bring your love back to life? Remember, you’re well within your right to break either Oath. However, are you willing to accept the consequences that comes with it?
This is indeed a tough decision for anybody, especially after the love of your life tragically meets their demise. Again, whatever Oath you pick, it’s best to stick by it throughout your Banishers: Ghosts of Eden experience. But whatever decision you make, you’ll still have an amazing time playing, so it’s a win-win situation.
