The excitement surrounding these releases is palpable—they are not just games, but probable milestones in the mobile game revolution.
An increasing number of AAA-level games are making their mobile debuts, with PC and console releases following suit. This is all because of the steadily rising quality of mobile games. Consequently, I thought it would be a good idea to highlight the games I deem to be seven of the most anticipated mobile releases coming out in the next couple of years.
Duet Night Abyss
Developer: HK Hero Entertainment Games
Release Date: TBA
This year, a small group of people were invited to participate in a technical testing of Duet Night Abyss. The purpose of the test was to showcase the game’s mechanics to potential players. Demonstrating a mobile game so early in its development cycle, so soon after its introduction, was a tremendously bold step.
As an action RPG, Duet Night Abyss offers a great deal of freedom of movement and character customization in terms of appearance and gameplay. My expectation is that the Tokyo Game Show will provide additional information on the game.
Tribe Nine
Developers: Too Kyo Games, Akatsuki Games Inc., Akatsuki
Release Date: TBA
Tribe Nine is a role-playing game with an action focus that revolves around extreme baseball. Additionally, Crunchyroll presently houses the anime that it is based on. The art style, the gameplay, the characters—it is all quite enticing to me. Those who have received an invitation to test out Tribe Nine may now access the first beta of the mobile game.
Project Mugen
Developer: Naked Rain
Release Date: late 2024 or early 2025
In 2023, developers revealed Project Mugen. Despite a few leaks, we were still left in the dark about the game’s mechanics and the environments it will contain. Is it only a rebranding of an existing open-world game? The gaming loop, what is it? Is this the true appearance of the game? Nothing we have seen or heard so far has provided satisfactory answers to these queries.
The mobile game features stunning computer-generated imagery though, which is always a hook that reels me in. Without any new details, it is hard to stay captivated by Project Mugen. Nevertheless, I really want to hear more about it.
Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium
Developer: MICA Team
Release Date: TBA
I am looking forward to seeing Girls’ Frontline brought into a 3D environment with an XCOM-style combat system, even if I am sad that the game came out in China so long ago. I am rather eager to fully grasp the game’s mechanics now that Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium is set for a worldwide release. I have no doubt that this mobile game will captivate us for hours on end with its gorgeous characters, intricate dormitory systems, customizable skins, as well as demanding gameplay.
Neverness to Everness
Developer: Hotta Studio
Release Date: TBA
Just one month has passed since the announcement of Neverness to Everness. Not only did the developers announce it, but they also opted to reveal a stunning CG video and some gameplay footage from inside the title’s development engine. This enlightened us on the setting, the mechanics, and the elements that make it unique. Playing Neverness to Everness will put us in scenarios where we deal directly with what they term ‘anomalies’, manage stores and houses, modify and drive automobiles, and more.
The creators of Neverness to Everness were open with players about the game’s flaws and listened to player input after releasing the actual gameplay footage. The game is now still in the works. It will be fascinating to see the mobile game grow and develop stronger.
Arknights: Endfield
Developer: Hypergryph
Release Date: TBA
Arknights: Endfield is delightfully different from the trend of games in this genre that are afraid to attempt novel concepts, which is something I am continually griping about since they feel all too identical. Battles in Arknights: Endfield resemble those in Xenoblade Chronicles, assuming that you have been acquainted with the series.
The story unfolds long after the events of the first Arknights game. They have also devised an approach for constructing bases in this mobile game that you can use to gather resources to level up your characters and skills.
Azur Promilia
Developer: Manjuu
Release Date: late 2024 or early 2025
Azur Promilia is an upcoming mobile game in the works for PC, Android, iOS, and PlayStation 5 from the developers of Azur Lane. It is shaking up the gacha business in a unique way. Azur Promilia borrows elements from Palworld’s amazing creature-capturing structure, adds a hectic battling system, and incorporates elements from Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing into its farm-like framework.
I am really anticipating how they implement all of this since it has never been done before in the gacha game business. Will it be a completely new concept, or will they just recycle ideas from other popular games? It will be curious to see the outcome, but I have high hopes.
My selection of the seven mobile games that I find myself most looking forward to playing in 2024 and 2025 has now met its conclusion. I hope this leaves you, the reader, with new titles to look forward to as well.
