Elden Ring is full of many incredibly fun weapons. But there are some that quite simply stand above the rest.
In Elden Ring there are a variety of different weapon types, different styles, and weights that all can affect players’ experiences. FromSoftware have ensured that players are provided an incredible number of options for players to utilise as they fight their way through the lands between.
Now while in terms of stats some weapons are ‘better’ than others, in some cases these better weapons aren’t really the most fun. This list will cover weapons that have the most fun movesets, design, and overall ‘coolness’ factor throughout Elden Ring and there are a lot of great picks. This obviously does not mean that these weapons are bad at all. It just simply means that a weapon’s power does not influence this list.
10. Treespear
We start off this list with the Treespear.
The Treespear is arguably the best Greatspear in the game as it can still be buffed by incantations and such. But regardless of how good a weapon it is, it is also incredibly fun. Now while spears and ‘tanky-esque’ movesets aren’t normally that fun, the Treespear stands out.
Attacking from behind your shield as you slowly press against the enemy only to use your heavy attack which annihilates anything in front of you is so addictive you will have trouble ever wanting to use another weapon. If you want to find the Treespear in Elden Ring check out our guide for it here.
9. Grafted Blade Greatsword
The Grafted Blade Greatsword is an obvious homage to George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire anthology series. As most know, George RR Martin collaborated with Hidetaka Miyazaki and FromSoftware to help establish the lore throughout Elden Ring.
This sword isn’t particularly special aside from its looks. It attacks like a regular colossal greatsword, the real fun factor behind this weapon is the style, no sword carries this much of a punch when you swing it wildly, a sword made up of hundreds of little swords is so ridiculous and cool it had to make this list.
You can find the Grafted Blade Greatsword on the southern end of the map on the weeping peninsula. Travel to Castle Morne and fight your way through until you reach the Misbegotten Warrior, the boss of the castle. Once it is beaten, this legendary armament is yours to wield.
8. Hookclaws
The Hookclaws are built for those wishing to live out their wolverine fantasy. Fast and brutal, the Hookclaws are supremely fun to use. Carving up a bunch of enemies with this weapon is incredible. The attack animations are fantastic and alongside with the weapons’ innate bleeding effect, it makes this weapon a sight to behold in action.
This weapon can be found in Stormveil castle, one of the first areas you come across you can either head up some stairs where you will be besieged by flame pots, or you can head down the corridor past the stairs. An enemy with a humongous axe awaits, ignore him and in the back left corner, the Hookclaws are there for the taking.
7. Starscourge Greatsword
After you have defeated one of the hardest bosses in the game Starscourge Radahn, you will be rewarded with his remembrance. As with the other remembrances found throughout the game, players have a few choices. They can trade them in for runes or for 1 of two items. For Radahn, one of these two items is the Starscourge Greatsword.
This weapon is ferocious. Firstly, when players two hand this colossal greatsword, it is not like other greatswords, you pull another from your back and powerstance them! How awesome is that. It technically only has the weight of one weapon (though it is colossal) and it has an incredibly unique special ability.
Ultimately, what makes this weapon so cool is the look. Wielding two massive greatswords, charging down enemies, and smashing them to bits with these goliath weapons is incredibly addictive and it is why it makes this list.
6. Bloodhound’s Fang
This sword was going to have to be on the list.
One of the more iconic weapons in Elden Ring at this point, the Bloodhound’s Fang is such a fun weapon to use it is nearly unbeatable.
It has one of the best and most fun unique attacks on any weapon in the entire game and it makes you feel powerful as you perform the epic swing as you doge backwards, charging your power attack as you turn to mist for that split second before you reappear with a powerful strike, it is awesome.
In addition to this, this weapon can be retrieved insanely early. If you find the half wolf Blaidd in Limgrave howling at the sky, complete the first part of his quest where you retrieve a gesture from Kale, the merchant at the Church Of Elleh, once you do so, Blaidd will come and talk to you and help you with the Darriwil boss fight in the southern end of Limgrave.
5. Sword of Night and Flame
The Sword of Night and Flame may just be the most iconic weapon in all of Elden Ring with good reason. People have utilised the weapon in such a way that it almost disposes of many of the games toughest bosses with complete ease. Does this sound fun? To completely melt bosses without any retaliation? Yes… yes it is.
Now it is no longer as bad as it was, FromSoftware nerfed the weapon, meaning it is not quite what it once was. Though at the same time it is still a very powerful weapon and is still incredibly fun.
Should players wish to get their hands on one of Elden Ring’s best weapons check out our guide for The Sword of Night and Flame here.
4. Dismounter
A few people may be wondering why a weapon that isn’t unique… does not have a special ash of war… and is not that difficult to get has made it so far up this list… the answer? The Dismounter curved greatsword is just that fun.
The weapon that in my opinion has the greatest moveset in Elden Ring, the Dismounter is a curved greatsword with immense reach and a variety of incredibly fun and fast attacks. The sword has wide arc swings meaning players will be cleaving rows of enemies at a time making this weapon even more fun.
Combining this weapon with an incredible ash of war quite simply elevates to another level entirely. I personally have been running the dismounter on an arcane build with bloody slash and it is devastatingly fun.
3. Eleonora’s Poleblade
This is the best bleeding weapon in Elden Ring.
Eleonora’s Poleblade is exceedingly fun. Fast and ferocious attacks that batter enemies down. The speed, pace, and aesthetic of this weapon are so good it elevates the game.
If you want to live the Darth Maul fantasy this is the weapon that will fulfil it. This weapon is amazingly fun, and it is so addictive that players may not want to use any other weapon ever again.
Players who want to utilise this fine weapon can check out our guide on Eleonora’s Poleblade here.
2. Moonveil
Moonveil… Ah Moonveil.
Katana’s in Elden Ring are fun in general, with their fast movesets accompanied by some impressive damage and then on top of that on the whole looking like a well and true badass. Moonveil however, is on another level.
The katana that has many PVP fans weeping is an incredibly fun weapon purely because of its unique attack, Transient Moonlight. Incredibly similar to the regular Katana’s Unsheathe, Transient Moonlight turns it up to 11 by having the weapon sprout a blue beam of energy that travels deceptively far.
The attack does high poise damage and if I’m honest it’s just do amazing to use. This with the fact that Moonveil has one of the best aesthetics for any weapon throughout Elden Ring just elevates it to another level entirely.
If you want to find this weapon for yourself, check out our very own guide for it here.
1. Darkmoon Greatsword
I bet people had a lot of thoughts what would be number 1 on this list. They most likely had a number of choices, but for me, there was no question.
Not only is the Darkmoon Greatsword another representation of FromSoftware’s now infamous Moonlight Greatsword, which has been in every FromSoftware game for basically twenty years. But the Darkmoon Greatsword is also incredibly fun.
Similar to Moonveil, it is not that different from a regular greatsword in its moveset. What makes it stand out is its aesthetics and unique ability. Charging up this sword makes you feel something, it’s this visceral feeling. Picture Gandalf in Lord of the Rings as he rides out of Gondor, his staff shining the light against the Nazgul, that’s what this weapon makes you feel like.
Plus in addition to this, the weapon also has range, the power attack launches an arc of frosty moonlight energy that does significant damage and there’s just so much more I could talk about in regards to this weapon.
Finding this weapon is the most complicated out of any weapon in Elden Ring. Players will have to complete the witch Ranni’s questline (which is probably the longest and most complicated questline in the game) all the way to the end whereas she leaves, she will give you the Darkmoon Greatsword.
