Another year and another round of cozy, easy-going games. Here’s a list of some of the most exciting, cozy games coming in 2024.
Gaming is a diverse media genre; there’s a game for everyone, whether you want to be a sword-wielding dragon-slayer or want something simpler in your life. Here’s a list of some of the coziest games coming in 2024.
Eastward: Octopia DLC (31 January 2024)
Now, you’re probably very confused about why Eastward is on this list, as the game is a puzzle-action RPG. Well, you see, Eastward had a new DLC announced, Octopia. This new DLC adds some much-needed downtime for Sam and John. Players will be able to grow their own crops, take care of animals and even restore an abandoned fairground to its former glory, as well as forming bonds with a cast of unique characters.
Initially, the game was set to have a release date sometime late in 2023, but that is no longer the case. You can expect Eastward: Octopia to release on 31 January 2024 on PC, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
Trash Goblin (TBA 2024)
Remember the saying, another man’s trash is another man’s treasure? That is very much the case for this curious shop sim. You will play as a goblin shopkeeper who runs an upcycling business where they repair or repurpose old and broken trinkets. The money you make from these trinkets can then be used to upgrade your shop and equipment. Along the way, players will meet the game’s incredibly colorful cast of characters that are as bright and quirky as the game itself.
It should be noted that as of writing, the game is listed as a PC-only release, but the developers, Spilt Milk Studios.Ltd has discussed a Nintendo Switch port in the future.
Voyagers of Nera (TBA 2024)
This is probably one of the biggest cozy games on this list, as Voyagers of Nera is a live-service cozy co-op game that focuses on exploration of the game’s beautiful island setting, filled with both resources and magic. It should be noted that while Voyagers of Nera has a co-op of up to 16 players, it is not listed as an MMO.
There is not much known about Voyagers of Nera, but what we do know is that Treehouse Games is aiming for a 2024 Early Access release for PC. We have yet to get confirmation of a Nintendo Switch port.
Sopa (Q1 2024)
Some of life’s greatest adventures start in the humblest of ways; such is the case of Sopa’s protagonist. Miho is given the task of getting a potato for his grandmother, but he soon finds himself sucked into a new fantastical world. Sopa follows Miho on an emotional journey that takes inspiration from films such as Spirited Away, Coco, and The Little Prince.
If you’re interested in Sopa, you don’t have to wait long, as StudioBando aims for a Q1 2024 release. Sopa will be released on PC, Xbox X/S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and even a port on both Android and iOS.
Snacko (TBA 2024)
Cozy games often take us back to simpler times and help us escape from the humdrum of the modern day, and this is a major part of the story for Snacko. Snacko is a cozy farming sim that puts us in the role of Momo, a cat sick of modern life who must cure an island of a mysterious miasma and rebuild a ruined town. Snacko features a simply beautiful art style that merges 2D-pixel art with low-poly 3D models to give the game a sense of childhood nostalgia.
Snacko has been out on Early Access for a while, but the game is set for a full release in 2024 on Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation 5.
Summerhouse (TBA)
Sometimes, the cozy game genre can be stressful with all the resource management, and sometimes, you just want something simple and laid back that you can still lose hours in. Such is the case with Summerhouse. The game’s premise is rather simple – you build houses for people, that’s it. In Summerhouse, you don’t need to worry about resources or tool quality; all you do is build cozy, lived-in houses for the people of this vibrant pixel world.
Sadly, we have yet to get a release date, as the game is still very early in development, but we know it will be released on PC.
Momento (TBA 2024)
Have you ever wanted a game like Unpacking but just with a little more story? Then look no further than Momento. This is a cozy, laid-back organization game that sees you organize various rooms from different points in a person’s life, but there’s a catch: depending on what items you choose to keep, it will affect what happens next in the person’s life.
There is currently no set release date, and as of writing, Momento will only be released on PC, with possible console ports happening sometime in the future.
Duck Detective: The Secret Salami (TBA 2024)
Yes, you read that right, Duck Detective. In this game, you play as… Well, a duck detective. You must gather as many clues and evidence as possible from all the suspects and try to piece together who is at the center of the Salami Bandit and what other sausage-based misdeeds he will commit. The game is charming and features an art style that calls back to collectable sticker books.
As excited as you probably are to dive deep into an ocean of duck and sausage puns, sadly, we don’t have a release date for Duck Detective: The Secret Salami, but we do know that the game will be coming to PC.
Kibu (TBA)
What is more relaxing than exploring a forest and brewing your own teas? Kibu, that’s what! In Kibu, you play as the titular red panda monk, who has ventured deep into the forest in hopes of building his temple and maybe making some delicious tea brews along the way. The game will feature a beautiful open world of fields and forests filled with wandering spirits and lush vegetation.
As beautiful as the game is, there is sadly no release date as of writing, and currently, the game is only planned to be released on PC.
Neko’s Odyssey (TBA 2024)
There is one thing that goes hand in paw with cozy games, and that’s cats and nothing could be cozier than Neko’s Odyssey. In this game, you live out every person’s dream and take pictures of the various cats found throughout your city. You then upload these pictures online and can then get further hints as to where to find your next feline photo model. Much like Snacko, Neko’s Odyssey combines 2D and 3D visuals to give you a game that’s dripping with charm and nostalgia.
While there is no set release date, Neko’s Odyssey will be released sometime in 2024 for PC. There is currently no news of a possible console port of the game.
Whether you want to solve mysteries of lunch meat, escape from the turmoil of the 9-5, or just want to walk around and take pictures of cats, 2024 certainly has a bit of everything coming in terms of cozy games. If you want a little something more action-packed, check out some of our other lists.
