Elden Ring is full of incredible spells, incantations, and more. But these 10 are undoubtedly the best and most fun to use incantations in all of Elden Ring.
Elden Ring is riddled with dozens upon dozens of incredible casts. Unlike various other FromSoftware titles, magic is not only useful, it can be downright broken with the right build. This list will cover incantations which are primarily faith based spells.
All you wizards out there shouldn’t fret, for a 10 Best Spells in Elden Ring list will be coming soon.
For now, however, we are going to do a deep dive into the 10 Best Incantations in all of Elden Ring.
10. Electrify Armament
An incantation that looks rather plain at first, but can actually be one of the most powerful. Electrify armament charges your weapon with a bolt of electricity causing your weapon to do lightning damage.
It’s a great incantation for players that are playing a melee build with some support casting as the extra damage that electrifies armament applies is no joke at all.
You can acquire electrify armament from Brother Corhyn in the Roundtable Hold or Miriel, Pastor of Vows in the Church of Vows. To get access to electrify armament you must head due south from the Artist’s Shack site of grace. There you see a Leyndell Knight, slay them and the Dragon Cult Prayerbook will be added to your inventory. Give the prayerbook to either of the two NPC’s mentioned before and you will get access to a bunch of lightning spells.
9. Flame Grant me Strength
If this isn’t an aesthetic spell, I don’t know what is.
Flame Grant Me Strength is an incantation in Elden Ring that is such a huge buff.
This incantation buffs both your physical and fire damage making you an unwavering deluge of destruction. It is one of the better fire incantations throughout Elden Ring and players should take advantage of the massive buffs it provides.
Players can find this incantation behind Fort Gael which lies at the southern end of Caelid. It is nestled between two manoeuvrable flamethrowers so it might be a little tricky to get, but trust me, it is so worth it.
8. Smarag’s Glintstone Breath
You all knew there was going to be a Dragon incantation somewhere on this list and believe me… there are more. Smarag’s Glinstone Breath is a phenomenal Dragon incantation that absolutely decimates anything in front of it. So why is this incantation, despite its incredibly high damage, lower on the list?
Well, its damage type is resisted by a lot of enemies throughout the game. While almost every spell and incantation suffers from this, Smarag’s Glintstone Breath seems to suffer the most with so many enemies being completely resistant to the magic damage it causes. Despite this, it remains an incredibly potent and fun incantation.
To get this incantation, players will have to kill Glintstone Dragon Smarag in the northern section of Liurnia of the Lakes. Once the Dragon is bested, head to the Cathedral of Dragon Communion over in Caelid and take Smarag’s Glintstone Breath for your own. Beware it costs two dragon hearts as opposed to the regular one.
7. Blessing’s Boon
Blessing’s Boon is a fantastic incantation that helps with arguably the most important stat in all of Elden Ring.
Your health.
Blessing’s Boon provides players with a heal over a time which may not be massive, but it can certainly help you out of major sticky situations. It’s an incantation that will be considered underwhelming, but I call it underrated. If you are marching into the fray with a heavy shield, Blessing’s Boon may not be a poor choice to accompany you into the breach.
You can purchase this spell from Miriel, Pastor of Vows in the Church of Vows for 4,000 Runes.
6. Frenzied Burst
Madness.
One of the best status effects in Elden Ring, especially in PVP. Frenzied Burst unleashes a beam of Magic madness causing energy. It is a fantastic incantation that melts all before it. Plus madness affects almost every enemy throughout Elden Ring. This is a spell of madness and as such players should beware… using this spell (and any other madness spell) raises your own madness bar, so be careful when using it.
Players can find this spell south of the Church of Inhibition in Liurnia of the Lakes. The spell will be near a bunch of frenzied rats so be careful not to go mad simply trying to get the spell.
5. Black Flame
Black Flame is awesome.
Not only does it look amazing throwing accursed fire at an enemy it also does incredible damage accompanied by some great damage over time as well. Black Flame is a spell that easily could become a mainstay in your arsenal. It has a quick casting time or you can charge it to ensure that only the most devastating damage is done.
Black Flame can be found in Stormveil Castle. From the Liftside chamber, exit into the courtyard and head south until you find a set of stairs. Descend them and ignore or slay the rats below. Then use two stonesword keys to unlock the next area where you will find the Godskin Prayerbook as well as the Godslayer seal (Which enhances all Black Flame spells).
Give the prayerbook to Brother Corhyn or Miriel, Pastor of Vows and you will get access to purchase Black Flame.
4. Golden Vow
Golden Vow is the best buff in Elden Ring no question about it. One of the best and easiest spells to cast, Golden Vow takes your character and turns them up to 11. The spell grants a huge 15% damage increase which can make your character go from great, to a GOD.
Golden Vow also lasts 80 seconds which provides players with more than enough time to completely wipe the floor with whatever may be in front of you, bosses or not.
One more thing to note is that Golden Vow stacks with Flame Grant me Strength, so if you want to become a devastating force of destruction, use both of the spells.
Players can find Golden Vow on Mt Gelmir at the Corpse Stench Shack. Do not be fooled by the name, Golden Vow is in the open easy to be picked up. Beware of the NPC invader Anastasia, Tarnished Eater. She is not too difficult but can do significant damage if you are not ready for her.
3. Agheel’s Flame
Another Dragon incantation and this one is Agheel’s Flame.
Agheel’s Flame is the upgraded version of Dragonfire and it certainly proves it. Agheel’s Flame is a devastating wide fire breathing spell that is a crowd killer. If you are wanting a spell that is awesome to look at and devastating, you could do little better than Agheel’s Flame.
You can get this spell from the Cathedral of Dragon Communion for 2 Dragon hearts, however, before you do that you have to defeat the Dragon Agheel in Limgrave.
2. Ezyke’s Decay
The best Dragon Incantation in Elden Ring with little to no competition.
Scarlet Rot is brutal and this spell utilises the might of the rot more than any other. A devastating breath spell that is the best for one thing and one thing only.
Killing Bosses.
If you want a boss killer, Ezyke’s Decay is probably the best spell in the entire game for doing so. Hitting bosses with a massive charge of this spell melts health away and then inflicts a metric load of scarlet rot damage upon them meaning you could simply run around the arena until the boss eventually dies. It’s an incredible spell.
Same as the other Dragon Incantations on this list, it requires 2 Dragon Hearts at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion but only after defeating the Dragon Decaying Ezyke who is luckily found nearby to the Cathedral of Dragon Communion.
1. Lightning Spear
I doubt that anyone expected this spell to claim the number one spot.
I know that there are many more spells, legendary incantations, and more but I promise you, none are more reliable and fun to use than Lightning Spear. This is my favourite spell in the entire game. Period. It does incredible damage, does not cost too much to become worthless and beyond this, it has an incredible amount of versatility and range.
It is the best spell because of all these things. It is the go-to spell. Once you have hit an enemy with a heavy hitter, nothing follows up more than Lightning Spear. This spell is the unsung hero of incantations in Elden Ring and the spell deserves some love for how truly great it is.
Plus it does more damage in the rain and in water, so, there’s, even more, to love about it.
You can find this spell the same way you find Electrify armament. Give the Dragon Cult Prayerbook you got from the Leyndell Knight south of the artist’s shack to Brother Corhyn in the Roundtable Hold or Miriel, Pastor of Vows in the church of vows.
