Elden Ring is riddled with tonnes of fantastic armour sets and pieces that all stand out in their own distinct way.
Armour in Elden Ring is pretty much the most universal part of the game. Everyone needs armour for various reasons, whether it is pure defense, the invisible poise stat or more. FromSoftware ensured that there were various types of armour throughout the game, moreso than any previous souls title, which is saying quite a lot.
We have already covered the 10 Most Fun Weapons in Elden Ring… Well, These are the 10 Best Armour Sets in Elden Ring:
10. Hoslow Knight Armour Set
The Hoslow Knight armour set kicks off this list.
A unique armour set that is found deep within the Mountaintop of the Giants. The armour itself looks cool and looks particularly regal. In conjunction with its appearance the armour also has some deceptive stats. It’s weight to poise ratio is actually really good, particularly for players seeking out a lighter armour set whilst still looking super cool.
You can find the Hoslow Knight armour through the volcano manor assassinations, kill the Hoslow Knight and take his armour. Beware his whip, it has deceptively long range, but other than that the fight is not too troubling.
9. Carian Knight Armour
The Carian Knight armour is probably the best early game armour players can get their hands on. Found in the Academy of Raya Lucaria, the Carian Knight set is near perfect stat wise for spellblade builds. It is not too heavy for those low endurance caster builds and beyond that it 100% fits that spellblade aesthetic, arguably better than the actual spellblade set.
To find this armour set, look through Raya Lucaria, as you get to the row of lifts that take you up towards the libraries, before that is the offshoot of a path where three undead are praying to a shrine, the body at the base of the small shrine contains this really cool armour.
Bonus: If players want the Carian Knight shield to finish off the aesthetic, they can find that towards the ‘end’ of Raya Lucaria before the boss lift to Rennala, the Knight is impossible to miss.
8. Scaled Armour
Another fantastic armour set, the Scaled armour is a fantastic ‘all-around’ armour set. Almost any character of any build could utilise this armour and it would be a benefit. Whilst it is heavier than the Carian Knight set, it has other benefits. For it’s weight it has relatively high poise which could be really good specifically for those who use the higher level Dragon Incantations.
Players can find the Scaled Armour in Limgrave, North of the Warmasters shack. The invasion is part of the Volcano manor questline.
7. Cleanrot Armour
This is one of the best armours in all of Elden Ring. The Cleanrot armour set offers tonnes of protection that can be retrieved very early of the game. It’s weight ensures that only higher endurance characters can really take advantage of this armour set. But when you can wear this armour and still medium roll, you become a devastating force.
Plus it has one of the best aesthetics of any armour in any fantasy game. Period. It fits so many different builds and stands as a fantastic armour set.
Players who want access to the Cleanrot set, the best option is to head to the Swamp of Aeonia towards the centre of Caelid and farm the Cleanrot Knights. I was relatively lucky in my farming so it did not take me very long but the time may vary for other players.
6. Blaidd Armour Set
Blaidd is one of the best NPC’s in Elden Ring and captured the heart and soul of fans everywhere. Therefore it is no mistake that his armour should make it into the list. Not only does the set look amazing it has some of the best stat spread of any armour in the game. Similar to the scaled armour it has an ‘all-around’ feel and almost any build could make use of it.
Getting the helmet is very easy. Head to Seluvis’ rise and next to the door will be a wall you can clamber up. Follow the wall and you will get the Black Wolf Mask. Getting the full set is more difficult than any other set on this list. You have to complete Ranni’s entire questline even past the Darkmoon Greatsword.
Spoilers for Ranni’s Quest: Blaidd will be in the Evergaol where you fought Darriwill, release him from there or don’t, it makes no difference. He will get out. He will then be found outside of Ranni’s Rise where you will have to fight and kill him. It’s a tragic fight in the game and also makes you ask the question… Why wasn’t Blaidd this good in the Radahn fight?
5. Royal Remains Armour
The Royal Remains armour. Worn by the infamous edgy NPC Ensha in the roundtable hold. This is the best lighter armour in the game without sacrificing much in terms of defense. Players requiring speed, this armour is for you and beyond this the set has it’s own special where it will start regenerating your health when your health drops below a certain point.
In addition to this, the armour is one of the coolest (if not a little creepy) armour sets in the entire game. Players can find this armour after gaining the first part of the Haligtree medallion from the Village of the Albinaurics in Liurnia of the Lakes. Upon your return to the roundtable hold, you will be attacked by Ensha, kill him and then go to the spot where he stood where you can loot his armour.
4. Raging Wolf Set
The most iconic armour in Elden Ring, the Raging Wolf set is in my opinion the best looking armour in the entire game. Everything about it looks awesome and it’s looks alone could easily sell it to players. It is peak fashion souls. It’s stats don’t compare to the following armours, but it still has pretty decent defenses, especially for players with lower endurance.
Players can find this through the Volcano manor questline after talking to Recusant Bernahl where he will offer you a letter. Go to the real Roundtable Hold located in the Royal Capital Leyndell and help Bernahl slay the two NPC’s. They aren’t too difficult of a fight, but beware of the Raging Wolf’s deceptive weapon range and the magic users spells and you should be fine.
3. Bull-Goat Armour
The Bull-Goat armour looks… ridiculous… In a good way? The heaviest armour on this list by far, this armour essentially is the definition of “You can hit me with a boulder and I’ll still hit back.” It has incredibly poise meaning that players can take significant attacks and stay standing. Good luck stunning anyone in this armour at all.
If you have the endurance to maintain the armour, this is an incredible option, especially for casters of spells with longer wind ups that don’t want to be knocked down mid-spell.
Players can find this armour through the lovable and completely trustworthy NPC known as; Patches. FromSoft veterans will know the name well as this prankster NPC has been irritating souls fans for years. If you don’t kill him in Murkwater Cave and forgive him, you will eventually find him at the Volcano Manor. He will eventually offer you a letter for a target.
Great Horned Tragoth is found through the Ruins-Strewn Precipive where you fight the Magma Wyrm Makar. After you beat the Magma Wyrm you can then encounter Great Horned Tragoth. He can be a tough fight since he has the armour on, but he is also relatively slow. Just beware for his crossbow, its deceptively strong. Kill him and the Bull-Goat set is yours.
2. Crucible Tree Knight Armour
The Crucible Tree Knight armour is just… awesome. It has some of the best defensive stats in the game. It is not so heavy that players will need to dump a huge number of points into endurance and it looks amazing. If you want to look like some of the most annoying bosses in Elden Ring this is the armour for you. It also has a relatively high poise stat which just takes the armour to the next level.
You can find this armour in the Deepwood Depths after fighting Crucible Tree Knight Siluria. Killing her will reward you with the Siluria Spear and behind her boss area, in the large tree you will find the Crucible Tree Knight armour.
1. General Radahn’s Lion Armour
Fans of Elden Ring no doubt anticipated this to be the case. Radahn’s Lion armour is the best armour in the game bar none. It has high poise, incredibly high defenses and looks incredible. Plus just to add to how cool the armour already is, it was once worn by Radahn who has some of the most interesting lore in any souls game and is a particularly tough boss fight.
Radahn’s armour set is the apex of Elden Ring armours and stands as an armour set that players will wish to use throughout their time in Elden Ring.
Gaining this armour is… ‘simple’. Go to Redmane castle in Caelid and kill Starscourge Radahn. Easier said than done, Radhan is a tough and ferocious boss fight that players will have to focus all of their energy on. He has ranged attacks, close range barrages and if all else fails and his health drops to a certain point he will leap from the battle returning like a meteor. The armour is a fitting reward for the trials and tribulations.
